Radishes are most often used raw in salads. I discovered they can also be cooked, after buying definitely too many at Montreal's Jean Talon market... Their piquant taste becomes milder when cooked, and similar to that of a small turnip.

Ingredients

10 radishes, large size (2,5 cm) 150 g
2 1/4 tsp margarine non-hydrogenated 10 g
2 tsp chives, fresh, chopped 2 g
1 pinch salt [optional] 0.2 g
ground pepper to taste [optional]

Method

  1. Prepare the radishes: cook 8-10 min in a pot of salted boiling water. Meanwhile, heat the margarine either in a microwave or in a pan on the stovetop.
  2. Drain the radishes well, then transfer them to a bowl. Add the margarine and chopped chives. Season with salt and pepper to taste, then toss well. Serve.
